Born: October 6, 1886 in Onaga, Pottawatomie County, Kansas,
(Onaga is about 20 miles southeast of Frankfort, Kansas)
1st daughter of George William and Sarah Louise (Rodee) Shedden
Died: August 29, 1967 in Kansas City, Kansas, at age 80
At the time Sana was born, her father, George, was 26 years old and her mother, Sarah, was 25 years old. Sana was named her mother's nickname -- Sarah (Rodee) Shedden was called "Sana" by her husband, George. Sana's middle name was Elmira -- named after her grandmother, Elmira Jane (Reser) Shedden.
By the time Sana was 2 years old she was living with her parents in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. Four years later (in 1892) at the age of 6 they were living in Frankfort, Kansas. In Frankfort, Sana attended school.
Her father, George Shedden, died April 18, 1907 at his home in Frankfort of diabetes. He was just 47 years old. Sana was 20 years old. His wife (Sana's mother) grieved herself to death two years later in Marysville, Kansas on September 9, 1909.
Sana met George Gillett in Gaylard, Kansas while he was working for the railroad. George was born September 8, 1885 in southwest Missouri at the small town of Purdy, Barry County, Missouri, the son of Benson Owen and Susan Elizabeth (Waltrip) Gillett.
They were married at the Methodist Church parsonage in Frankfort, Kansas by the Rev. James Newton on February 5, 1908.
